Illness/Absence

If your student is absent, please send a handwritten note including:

• Student's name
• class number and teacher
• date absent, date returning
• reason for being absent (sick, family emergency, etc.)
• parent signature

If the absence is longer than 4 days, or if you visited a doctor during the absence, you must provide the doctor's note to the office.

These letters do not necessarily excuse an absence or avoid truancy.

The Dallas ISD truancy department will contact you by phone each day your student is absent. The school does not make these calls, and cannot cancel them if your student came tardy.

It is important for your scholars to be at school on time and every school day.
